Welcome to Melbourne
On arrival in Melbourne spend time on your own to relax or explore the surroundings. This evening, meet your Journey Director and see the city from a different perspective at a Welcome Reception on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, followed by dinner at Berth Restaurant on Victoria Harbour.
Melbourne – Daylesford
After a leisurely breakfast at the Sofitel’s 35th floor restaurant overlooking the city, you’ll enjoy this cosmopolitan city taking in its premier sights. Explore the vibrant laneways and arcades as you wander the streets of Melbourne with your knowledgeable local guide. Relax and enjoy morning tea at one of the local Melbourne cafés. We depart the bustling city for the eclectic spa town of Daylesford where you start to unwind in the outdoors at Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm. Enjoy their manicured vegetable, herb & lavender gardens with an afternoon tea. Continue your relaxation in the early evening at the healing waters of the historic Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa. Tonight, enjoy dinner in the award-winning restaurant, The Argus.
Daylesford - Dunkeld
After breakfast, why not see all that Daylesford has to offer before leaving to visit the family-owned and operated Creswick Woollen Mills. This is the only remaining coloured woollen spinning mill of its kind in Australia, where you’ll be led on an exclusive guided tour. Continue a little way down the road to the historic town of Clunes. Step back in time and wander along the main street where you’re free to grab a spot of lunch in one of its cafés. En route to Dunkeld visit the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka in Ballarat, where the original Stockade flag is housed, to gain insights into the birth of Australian democracy. We’ll check in to the Royal Mail Hotel at the base of the Grampian Mountains, and indulge in an exclusive dinner experience at the hotel, made with fresh local ingredients and available produce growing in the extensive kitchen garden.
Dunkeld – Warrnambool
This morning you might like to sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Or for the early riser, you can join the ground’s gardener for a guided walk through their kitchen garden, which supplies most of the hotel’s produce. Set on just over an acre, it’s Australia’s largest and most productive organic kitchen garden. We’ll head to the top of the Grampians today at Halls Gap for a Welcome to Country ceremony by the local indigenous people at the Brambuk Cultural Centre. The traditional people of Gariwerd, the Djab Wurrung and Jardwidjari, will teach you how to throw a boomerang and then gather some bush tucker of the region for you to taste. See spectacular natural rock formations, waterfalls and panoramic views over the Grampian Mountain range. Then we head down the mountain to the coastal town of Warrnambool. Tonight, it’s a Highlight Dinner and Stage Show at Flagstaff Hill, where you’ll not only learn about the region’s maritime history but will experience it!
Warrnambool – Lorne
Our departure today will be leisurely, so why not take advantage of the resort’s spa and massage services to start the day off on the right foot? Be sure to have your camera batteries charged today as we take one of Australia’s most iconic road trips along the Great Ocean Road. We’ll visit all the must-see sights and stop at vantage points along the way, including the Bay of Islands, London Bridge, Loch Ard Gorge and of course The Twelve Apostles, as we hug the coastline in our coach. There will be some free time for you to grab a bite for lunch in the seaside town of Port Campbell and for the adventurous, perhaps a helicopter flight over the Twelve Apostles may appeal (own expense). Stretch your legs this afternoon in Apollo Bay before arriving in picturesque Lorne late afternoon. Enjoy a free night to dine wherever you wish among the beachfront restaurants.
Lorne – Mornington Peninsula
We continue this morning along the last leg of the Great Ocean Road, passing some more stunning coastline, until will arrive in the town of Torquay. It’s a mecca for Australian surf culture, so it’s only fitting that we visit the Australian Surfing Museum, for a guided tour to learn of the culture and much-loved pastime as we leave The Great Ocean Road behind. Then onwards to the Bellarine Peninsula a wine-growing region where we’ll indulge our taste buds in a Be My Guest lunch and wine tasting at the award-winning Jack Rabbit Winery. A vehicle ferry will then take us from Queenscliff to Sorrento in the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Here we’ll visit the Green Olive farm for some hands-on experience with assistance from the farmers and enjoying a taste of farm life and fresh produce with a local guide before heading to our accommodation. Tonight, enjoy your last dinner as a group in the beautiful Mornington region.
Mornington Peninsula – Farewell from Melbourne
This morning after breakfast we head back towards Melbourne and the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground. Nothing can match the tradition and heritage of the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Explore the inner sanctum of the MCG, walk on the hallowed arena and experience where legends play with your guided MCG Tour. Your Inspiring Journey is now coming to an end. Enjoy a farewell lunch with your fellow travel companions where you can look back on the past week and raise a glass or two to the wonderful memories and great friends that have been made.
