This morning we begin our journey to the North, a region of New Zealand that is steeped in rich history and natural beauty. We make a stop to visit Morris and James Pottery in Matakana, home of individually handcrafted and glazed terracotta. With a story as layered and rich as the many tonnes of Matakana clay that have been thrown there, we'll take a behind the scenes look at what it takes to produce large scale pottery from locally sourced clay. We continue North to the west coast village of Matakohe and visit the award-winning Kauri Museum, famous for its storytelling of the ancient kauri trees which once covered northern New Zealand. We'll end the day in scenic Hokianga. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Reception and dinner with your fellow travellers at Bryers Room Restaurant, dining in a 100-year-old room overlooking the Hokianga Harbour.
